Player Profile:

Jude Bellingham

Age: 17 years old

Nationality: England šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁄󠁮󠁧ó æ Positions: CM/CDM/LM

Current club: Borussia Dortmund

Market Value: €11m

Jude Bellingham is an English midfielder, currently playing at Borussia Dortmund.

The 17 year old began his career for the championship side Birmingham City, where he made his debut in the 2019/20 season. His first ever season would turn out to be his breakout season as he would play a total of 44 games, starting in 35. In his first ever season he became a pivotal part of his team, which just goes out to show his capabilities. He was acknowledged for the balance that he had in his game, his tackling and positioning. He played a vital role to save Birmingham from relegation. By now Bellingham had already showed his ability and major European clubs were already lining up to sign him, however Borussia Dortmund won the race.

Jude Bellingham signed for Dortmund in July 2020 for a fee of €23m, about twice his current market value. He fit right into Borussia Dortmund’s system, capable of playing as a CM or a CDM, with enough creativity to be used as a wide midfielder. In a season where Borussia Dortmund have had their fair share of miseries, Jude Bellingham has been their silver lining, being one of their most consistent performers. He has stepped up in big games as well, and has continued to make a name for himself at the club. Despite being 17 he has already registered 26 appearances, starting in 14 games. He also became the third youngest player to play for the England national team, after Theo Walcott and Wayne Rooney. He made his debut on 23rd November 2020, aged just 17 years and 136 days.

His playstyle is quite unique as compared to other midfielders at Dortmund. He’s versatile and highly balanced as compared to the likes of Thomas Delaney and Axel Witsel who are both positional CDMs. Although Bellingham mostly plays in a double-pivot behind Julian Brandt or Marco Reus, he progresses forward a lot, taking part in a lot of the team’s play in the final third, he has good creativity and dribbling, his decision making is spot on and is confident on the ball.

He can be turned into a box-to-box midfielder given how balanced he is, and the amount of experience he already has at such a young age is highly impressive.

What are your thoughts on him ? Do let me know in the comments.

He actually would’ve been very successful in a double pivot, as seen at Dortmund
